Nottingham Review and General Advertiser for the Midland Counties Nottinghamshire, England 10 Apr 1840: WM. LITCHFIELD, aged 27, to stealing on the 15th day of February last, a blanket, the propert of Wm. Fisher. Also to stealing on the 14th of February last, a sheet and a chair-cover, the property of James Ellerthorne__Transported for ten years. William Litchfield was listed as 28 years old on arrival. Place of Birth: Nottingham. Wiliam was literate, 5'4" tall, dark brown hair, light brown eyes, small scars back of forfe and middle fingers right hand, scar inside left thumb. Occupation: Lace maker/labourer. Wlilliam was married with 1 child, Wife Eliza at Nottingham. Brother: Nathan Sisters: Mary, Hannah, Eliza, Jemima, Anne - all at Nottingham. Conduct Record: Empty. 4/5/1850: Free Certificate (Newspaper date) 30/3/1852: William Litchfield, steerage passenger, free, Launceston to Melbourne per'Vixen'. Stated his ship to colony was the 'Mariposa' so he may have been to Melbourne before --- there are no other records of him in VDL.
