1825 Journey. On Saturday morning (3 Dec) arrived from London and Dublin, the ship Henry Porcher, Captain John Thompson, with 175 male prisoners, having lost one man - the rest in good health. She sailed from London the 10th of July, and Dublin the 5th of August. The guard comprises a detachment of the 47th Regiment, under the orders of Captain Donaldson. The Surgeon Superintendent is Dr. CARTER, R. N. Sydney Gazette, 5 Dec 1825.

Convict Notes




Born Shoreditch, London, England. He was a Painter & Glazier. Was transported to Tasmania on a Larceny charge, convicted in 1836 age 21yrs old at the Central Criminal Court London, arrived Tasmania 15th November, 1836. Worked as a farm labourer as a convict, his sentence was 7 years, after this time became a glazier. In Tasmania Marriages, two: Margaret McCaffery convict, she passed away 6th June 1850 aged 34, Margaret died of eating bad fish, the person who sold it to her was jailed. He then married a women called Catherine Lock, not a convict.
