Sentence: Transportation as a Felon for 7 years & to be marked with a D.

Moreton Bay records John Lomas, per Ann & Amelia, Tried at Enniskillen G. Rel. Court Martial , 25 Nov 1823, 7 years, soldier. Colonial conviction: Supr. Ct. Windsor, 9 Jan 1830, Highway robbery, 7 years and hard labor in chains, commuted from Death recorded. To Sydney 26 Aug 1837. Remarks: Run 16 Oct , retd 9 Nov 1830; Run 31 Dec, retd 2 March 1831; Run 16 Oct , ret 9 Nov 1831; Run 29, ret ???. Run 20 th Feb 1837, ret 5 Apr 1837. Description: John Lomas, native of York, age 23, 5 ft 7 ΒΌ, Sallow comp, lt brown hair, hazle eyes. E religion. -------------------------------------------------- Windsor Asssizes. John Lomas and Jeremiah McCarthy were indicted for a highway robbery on John Moore, at Bathurst, on the 19th November last. The Jury found John Lomas Guilty, and McCarty Not Guilty. Death recorded against Lomas. The same persons were indicted for a larceny, found Guilty ; and McCarthy sentenced to be transported for 7 years. Sydney Gazette, 12 Jan 1830.
