Occupation: Farm labourer. James was convicted at Worcester Quarter Sessions on 22 February 1838 of breaking into the house of William Morison and stealing four calico shirts, valued at 12/-, two black silk handkerchiefs valued at 6/-, and one cotton handkerchief, valued at 6d. as well as the chattels of Robert Allen. Having been previously convicted of felony at the county Sessions 27 June 1836 for larceny and was sentenced to 6 months, he was sentenced to seven years transportation . According to hulk report his crime was wearing stolen apparrel 'Justitia convict hulk Gaolers report "Convicted before. Bad in every respect." Single and illiterate Woolich Hulk Justitia Age 24 CrimeStealing a watch Bad character The convict ship Theresa left Deptford on 28 Sep 1838 for Woolwich and recieved 200 male prisoners the following day and 66 more on 2 October 1838. They departed Portsmouth with 264 male prisoners on 10 Oct 1838, and did not stop anywhere. they arrived at Port Jackson 31 January 1839.
