Mary LORD was convicted at Leicester on 28 June 1852 for larceny - stealing money. 7yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Duchess of Northumberland' arriving 21 April 1853. Single woman; Methodist; can read; aged 20yrs; laundress; 5' 3/4"; fair complexion; black hair; Hazel eyes. Native Place: Leicestershire, England. Father: James Mother: Frances Siblings: George, Frances & Susannah Assigned to work services in the Hobart district. 16 Oct 1854: Application for Permission Marriage to Samuel Marriott (per Aboukir). 13 Nov 1854: Marriage to Samuel Marriott. (n.b. transcription of the register has Mary's name incorrectly as "Snel" - should read "Lord"). St. Mary's Church, Franklin, Huon district. (ref. 37/1/13 no. 554) 24 April 1855: Ticket of Leave granted. 30 June 1857: Conditional Pardon approved.
