Convict Notes
John Loveridge was a Grrom, Coachman, Footman in Surrey England. He was a Servant for Alexander Still at Windsor according to the 1828 Census. He married Clara Johanna Kimpton 1 January 1830. Clara was also a Convict.He was a 'Baker' of Phillip Street Sydney at the time. A daughter Louisa C Loveridge was born in 1833. John received his Certificate of Freedom 31 January 1831. He was the 'Proprietor' of 'The Bird in the Hand Inn' at Kellyville in 1839. From June 1840 until he went Bankrupt in June 1843 he was the 'Publican' of 'The Steam Packet Inn' at Parramatta.He was imprisoned at Parramatta Gaol for a period. The Inn was purchased by John Cadman in 1846. John Loveridge was the 'proprietor'of 'The Elephant & Castle Inn' George Street Parramatta from June 1847 until June 1848. He transferred the licence to Mark Frederick Dunn in July 1848. There is no record of John's death but Clara Johanna Loveridge, Widow, married Henry Farmer at Araluen in 1851.
