The Arabian arrived at Hobart Town, February 25 1847.

Bridget Lowther, Thomas Gehan, and John were indicted for burglariously entering the house of Millville at Cort, and stealing therefrom some articles of clothing. Bridget I.owther pleaded guilty to this offence, and John and Thomas were were further indicted for receiving two pair trousers, and other articles, knowing them to be stolen. Mr Hunt, Esq., examined Mr. Blake - Is Justice of the Peace ; the prisoners were brought before him on the 3d July last: holds in his hand the examination of the prisoners; there was confession made by Bridget Lowther. The witness here read the examination, which stated that the female prisoner brought the articles to the house She had with her a bundle, and said she saw an officer who gave her bottle of whiskey at the barracks; made the officer drunk, and then that she took away all she could. Mr Hunt … asked the if they had articles alleged to have been stolen, and they denied; search the two pair of trousers were found. Mannion examined—Was servant to Mr Millville in December last; there was a robberycommitted at his house, the two pair of trousers here produced, are some of the property. The case having closed, the prisoners stated in their defence that they bought the articles from Bridget Lowther. but did not know that they were stolen, Guilty. Galway Mercury, 28 March 1846.
