The James (Wilson mentioned here was a gardener when he married Ann (???/Richards COROMANDEL 1802) on 23 4 1811 at St Phillips CofE Sydney, and [Noted this (Ann (???/Richards) arrived in NSW on the same ship as Edward (Warr convict) & may have been a relative of his] .. Noted therefore: CONVICTdone Edward (Warr) was tried at Buckinghamshire Quarter Sessions, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 14 8 1802 after a voyage of 7.5months on COROMANDEL. [Some details taken from this Website] Details of Ann (???/(Richards perhaps previously Ann (Warr))s family are given in entry for Margaret (Darnell PRINCE OF WALES 1788) on this Website. Edward (Field) was living at Hawkesbury in 1805. Edward (Field), born 1797, is restated: 2.Edward (Field) was born on 16 9 1797 & baptised on 24 12 1797 at St Johns CofE Parramatta. The Sydney Gazette and New South Wales Advertiser (NSW : 1803 - 1842) Sat 9 May 1818 Page 3 Sydney. On Tuesday last the dead body of Mr. Nathaniel Lucas, for many years known in this Colony and at Norfolk Island as a respectable builder, was found, left by the tide, at twenty yards distance from Moore Bridge, Liverpool ; which unhappy catastrophe appeared to have proceeded from his own act, owing to a mental derangement. He had been six days absent from his family at Liverpool, on a pretext of going to Parramatta ; but his long absence, connected with other circumstances that gave rise to apprehension, naturally induced his sons to go in quest of him ; the result of which was, that he was by one of his own sons found The Sydney Gazette and New South Wales Advertiser (NSW : 1803 - 1842) Sat 29 Aug 1818 Page 2 Classified Advertising TO be SOLD by PUBLIC AUCTION, by Order of the Administrator, on the Premises at Liverpool, on Wednesday the 9th of September, at Twelve o'Clock, a Newly-erected WINDMILL, in the Centre of Liverpool, with easy Access from all the surrounding Farms, and commanding equal Conveniency to all the neighbouring Districts, erected by the late Mr. Nathaniel Lucas. ; occupying a site of 100 Feet square. Condition of Sale; half the Purchase Money at the Time of Sale, and the other money at six Months, on good Security.

Nathaniel Lucas was indited at the age of 20. He was a skilled carpenter, boat builder and millwright. Employed by a builder in London, he was living at a public house in Holborn. He was not a drinker, which irritated the publican's wife. She had demanded payment of his rent earlier than had been agreed, he refused, and the next morning was woken by a police constable, who on searching his room found an apron, a towel, a shawl and six muslin caps belonging to the neighbours daughter stuffed under the mattress. He was accused of the theft of items to the value of £2 and sentenced to 7 years transportation. He was sent to Norfolk Island which was being settled at the time and married Olivia Gascoigne, who also went to Norfolk Island on the same ship. They had 13 children - 2 of which died in a freak accident, when a tree fell onto the house and they were killed. Nathaniel was responsible for building many of the settler's homes and other buildings. He was also a constable and had the water supply contract. In 1804, Nathaniel was invited to Sydney Cove to erect a windmill for the Government on a site on Church Hill. He then became the Colony's Superintendent of Carpenters and the Mint Building and the parsonages at Parramatta and Liverpool were amongst his work. Between 1815 and 1817 Nathaniel had the Government contract for the construction of St Luke's Church at Liverpool. The architect for the project was Francis Greenway, they clashed violently and frequently. A few weeks after a quarrel Nathaniel's body was discovered in the mud beside the Georges River by his son wdo had been searching for him after he had left for Parramatta six days before and never arrived. Francis Greenway accused Nathaniel of being an alcoholic. Nathaniel had previously been a teetotaller but was suffering from a disease of the mouth and enduring severe and intolerable pain. Some say he had cancer of the face or a severe form of neuralgia. His son Nathaniel Jnr., also had cancer of the face. Apparently the family has a hereditary blood disorder, Haemacromatosis, that recurs in Lucas descendants to this day. Perhaps Nathaniel was using rum as an analgesic. 5/5/1818: Nathaniel's body was found.

Sent to Norfolk Island 2 weeks after landing in Botany Bay.
