SCARBOROUGH. A grand discovery during the last week in reference to thefts which have taken in this neis Sunday last, the police-officer took into custody a man named Michael Lummas, shoemaker, Scarborough, on suspicion of connected with the late breaches of houses. In his house, several goods belonging ... were found, among which were ... the premises of Mrs. Tindall ; ….. The man is kept in custody for further examination, other parties are implicated. Hull Advertiser, 31 Jan 1840. Convicts.-The following convicts left York Castle on Wednesday, for the Justitia hulk, lying at Woolwich: .... The following were sent for the Warrior, lying at the same place : Michael Lummas, .... for seven years, ... The above convicts were sent down by steam packet to Hull, from which place they will be sent by sea to London This is a new arrangement, the convicts having previously been sent by land in the prison van.
