He also worked as a Farmer, Publican and Carpentar. He married Sarah Jane Crane and had five daughters named Esther Jane, Ann, Harriet and Dinah. He is my great great great grandfather. My name is Miss King I work at River Gum Primary School in Australia, Victoria Melbourne.He stole silver cutlery to the value of 53 pounds and 10 shillings, the man he stole from was called George Hibbert. Lewis Lyons was a watch finisher by trade a watch finisher was the name given to a person who put together various parts of a watch. When Lewis was 17 years of age he broke the law! The courts name that he went to was called Surrey Assizes he went on the 30th of March 1818. He was sentenced to death by the judge but then the judge decided than rather to impose this death sentence she would commute this sentence to life in the colonies. The hulk they held him in was called the Laurel.The General Stuart arrived in botany bay on the 31st of December 1818. Lewis worked hard and kept out of trouble once he arrived in Australia. On the 27th of june 1827 he was granted his ticket of leave and he began to work as a general dealer. He was employed by Mrs Mary Larkin. In November 1835 lewis was grante a conditional pardon and was able to live and work in the colony as a free man.
