Irish Convict Database, by Peter Mayberry. Ellen Lyons, age 40, Per Palambam 1831, Tried 1830 at Cork, 7 years, for Robbery house. DOB, 1791, Native place, Cork. Widow, 1 child, Catholic, Trade, All work. --------------------------------------------- Cork Assizes Concluded. Ellen Lyons was indicted for stealing books, the property of Francis M'Carthy, Esq. Barrister ; and two books the property of W. R. Daltera Esq. F M’Carthy, Esq. sworn—l had the books in question in a bag in my study, and I found them afterwards with Mr. Collins. His property was proved. The prisoner was going through the market with the bag in her possession, in her defence she said she did not recollect how she came by the bag, and she was intoxicated was intoxicated.
