County Assizes. —Prisoners convicted and sentenced to be transported for life— Denis Carroll, Michael Lyons, John Daly and Patrick Murphy, assaulting the habitation of Patrick Kennedy, at Cappauahan, and administering an unlawful oath to him. Tried at Limerick, 20 July 1840, 7 years, transported for Assaulting a habitation. Stated this offence: Assaulting habitation Paddy Kennnaway, (tried with Dens & ? ow, Carrol, Jno Dayley & Patk Murphy on Eygptian) married. Surgeon’s Report: Very cunning & deceitful, orderly for some time. Catholic, cannot read or write. Trade, Plo’man, F. Labourer. Age 64?, Native place, Limerick. Remarks: Face much wrinkled. Does not understand English. 17 March 1842- Probation expired. 21 Sep 1844, Ticket of Leave. Cert, 22.8.48. Remarks: 3/42, Conduct very good & quiet- vide Supt’s report.
