8/1/1842 Cambridge Chronicle and Journal Cambridgeshire, England: HIGHWAY ROBBERY AND HOUSE-BREAKING William Millard, Thomas Maddams, and Wm. Rust, were indicted for highway robbery and assault. All were on board the Candahar. Thomas Maddams was 19 years old on arrival in VDL. He was 5'8" tall, illiterate, single, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, light hazel eyes. Father: James Mother: Anna Brothers: Edward, William, John. Sisters: Sarah, Anna, Mary, Elizabeth. 1849: Was a police constable. 8/2/1850: TOL 8/3/1851: Permission to marry Jane Drudge (Elizabeth & Henry 1848). 7/4/1851: Married at St Georges, Hobart, Thomas was 27, a labourer, Jane was 20. 31/5/1853: CP 26/9/1851: Mary Jane Maddam born Hobart. 31/1/1854: Hannah Maddams born Hobart. 1855: George Thomas Maddams born Bendigo 1857: Thomas Henry Maddams born Bendigo 1858: Female Maddams born Ironbark Gully C1861: Sopia Fanny Maddams 1863-1943: Clara Maddams 1867: Jame Maddams 1871: Caroline Maddams 1871: Edith Maddams 1873: Ellen Maddams born Sandhurst Henry Maddams William Maddams James Maddams 1/7/1869: Bendigo Advertiser: ASSAULT.-Thomas Maddams was charged with assaulting Thomas Bradfield. 7/8/1869:Bendigo Advertiser: DESTROYING A TREE -Thomas Maddams was charged with having cut with intent to steal a growing tree. 7/8/1869:Bendigo Advertiser: THE EFFECTS OF DRINK.- Considerable amusement was created in the Town Hall Police Court yesterday morning during the hearing of a case against a man named Thomas Maddam for having been drunk and disorderly. C1871, returns from his own mining ventures are not enough to keep the family. Thomas begins work as an underground miner in one of the large managed mines. 24/12/1875: Bendigo Advertiser: VIOLENT AND MALICIOUS Assault - A miner named Thomas Maddams was brought up under warrant charged with violently and maliciously assaulting his wife, Jane Maddams, and threatening to take her life last Wednesday. 6/1/1876: Bendigo Advertiser: THREATENING THE Life of his Wife- A miner named Thomas Maddams, residing at Ironbark, was brought up on warrant charged with having threatened to take his wife's life on Friday last. 27/10/1876: Thomas Maddams was committed to a Victorian Mental Health Institute. Thomas remained in the Kew mental health institution until his death. January 1882, aged 58, Thomas Maddams died in the Victorian Kew mental health institution. He was buried at the Sandhurst cemetery in Bendigo. In 1883 Jane married Henry Fickel. 27/6/1920: Jane was buried at the Kangaroo Flat Cemetery as Jane Fickel.
