Departed Portsmouth, England on 29 July 1789, via Cape of Good Hope for Port Jackson, New South Wales, Australia on 3 June 1790. 1790 voyage carried 226 female passengers (convicts)- 5 of whom died on the trip. 6 children also on board. Significant because it was the first ship to bring all female women to the Colony.

Family connections for Grace (Maddox) are: MADDOX/OCKS Grace (Maddocks/Maddox) was born about 1761. She was tried for receiving stolen property at Old Bailey on 9 1 1788, sentenced to 7years, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 3 6 1790 after a voyage of 12months on Fleet ship LADY JULIANA-a ship with 228females who easily entertained the whole crew & also sailors at Teneriffe stopover. She was sent to Norfolk Island in August 1790 (recorded as arriving on 7 8 1790 & July 1791). She had a first relationship with John (Best his first (1of3) relationship). She was returned to Sydney in September 1804 (recorded as leaving on 21 9 1809/04).>>> [Some details taken from this Website] John (Best) became a clerk. He was tried w/1other for stealing (for many years) traps & nets from warrens at York Assizes/General Quarter Sessions of the Peace Beverley East Riding Yorkshire on 15 1 1788, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 9 7 1791 after a voyage of 7years on Fleet ship MATILDA. He was sent to Norfolk Island (maybe on FRIENDSHIP) arriving on 17 3 1790. He married secondly (2of3) Sarah (Wheeler). He was working as a clerk before 1794. He adopted the child Mary (Wheeler) to become her guardian. In 1796 he owned 30acres (plot no.65 in middle of the island southeast of Queensborough) on Norfolk Island; he also rented 60acres at Phillipsburgh. He left Norfolk Island in October 1810. He was recorded as Free by Servitude overseer settler on Norfolk Island in February 1805. He was told by doctor in 1811 he was not able to carry out his duties & should return to HQ at Port Jackson, which he did in April 1811 with Rebecca (Chippenham) & Mary (Wheeler stepdaughter) arriving on MERCURY on 13 4 1811. He married thirdly Rebecca (Chippenham/Chipman her second marriage) on 16 6 1817 at Christ Church Castlereagh. [Noted a John (Best) convict from MATILDA is recorded as dying on 4 9 1791 & buried at St Phillips CofE Sydney] [Some details taken from this Website] .. >>>Grace (Maddocks/Maddox) married secondly as an emancipist George (Woodward/head) emancipist blacksmith on 25 6 1810 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. She died on 30 6 1823 age61 with no known children. [George (Woodward/head) became a blacksmith. He was tried for grand larceny stealing, on 5 12 1789, canvas cover etc at Old Bailey on 9 12 1789 (quick justice), sentenced to 7years, held at Middlesex Westminster Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 9 7 1791 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet ship ACTIVE. He arrived on Norfolk Island in 1801. He is recorded as Free by Servitude by 1806 & working as a blacksmith. He is recorded as a butcher in 1822. Grace Maddox/Maddocks was convicted at the Old Bailey on 09/01/1788 for receiving stolen property. 14yr sentence. Transported to New South Wales, Australia on the 'Lady Juliana' (2nd Fleet). Aug 1790: Transferred to Norfolk Island. (Co-habited with John Best on Norfolk Island) Sep 1804: Returned to Sydney, NSW. 25/06/1810:Married George Woodward (transported per 'Active' 1791). 30/06/1822: died at Sydney. Buried Elizabeth St. Cemetery, Sydney.
