MALLOW SPECIAL SESSIONS, UNDER THE INSURRECTION ACT. Thomas Magner, Michael Magner, William Doyle, Patrick Carroll, and J. Hassell, were tried under the following charges of being out of their their dwelling houses one hour after sunset, administering an unlawful oath or engagement, and of being assembled unlawfully and tumultuously in the day time. After a trial which occupied eight hours, they were all convicted of being out of their dwelling houses one hour after sunset, and are acquitted of the other charges. After an impressive admonition from Serjeant Lloyd, the prisoners were sentenced to transportation for seven years. Dublin Weekly Register, 23 Nov 1822.
