The Indentures state that James Maher was 24 years old. He could read and write; religion Catholic; status single and is a native of Tipperary. He was a shepherd and farm labourer. He was convicted of ? stealing on 7 April 1828 at Tipperary and sentenced to life. He had no prior convictions. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 5 1/2 inches; complexion ruddy; hair brown and eyes hazel. Transport number 45. Assigned to B. Sullivan, Pitt Town, Sydney.
