391 ton Barque. Built Liverpool. The Barque Arabian, under the command of Captain Robertson, left Kingstown, Dublin, 22 November, 1846, with 150 female convicts and 37 children on board. One woman and 7 children died on the voyage. At least 2 children were born during the voyage. The Surgeon Superintendent was Dr Wylie, R.N. and the Matron, Mrs Evans. The Arabian arrived at Hobart Town, February 25 1847.

Anne Tuohy and Anne Mahony were found guilty of maliciously setting fire to the dwelling Denis McCarthy, near Mountshannon, the 14th June. Tipperary Vindicator, 14 July 1846. Anne Tuohy and Anne Mahony, for burning a house at Mountshannon—To be transported for fifteen years. [One of the prisoners said, Thank your Lordship.] Tipperary Vindicator, 25 July 1846. The following convicts, under sentence of transportation, were forwarded this morning from the county gaol to Dublin, for transportation to Van Diemen's Land: Judith Meany, larceny, 7 years ; Anne Tuohy and Anne Mahony, arson, 15 years each. City convicts, under rule of 7 years each Mary Kenny, Mary Long, and Ellen White. Winifred M'Namara, from Ennis gaol for larceny, 7 years, was transmitted with the above, and all under escort of a Police force from this city. Limerick Chronicle, 26 Sep 1846.

Services in the Colony including Launceston & Westbury. Male child stillborn at Cascades Female Factory 10/11/1848. (Ref. 1128/1848-33) Female child, Mary died 6/1/1851 hospital, Launceston (ref. 364/1851-35). No birth reg found, so may have been another stillbirth. Married William Bishop 2/3/1853 Longford (ref. 1242/1853-37). (A child William Bishop, d. 29/1/1855 Launceston district - father listed as William, no name given on index for mother. May have also been her child. ref. 1644/1855-35)

Ann Mahoney was convicted at Limerick on 15/07/1846 for Arson, setting fire to a dwelling house, with Ann Tuohy (also convicted & transported on same ship). 15yr sentence. Transported to Van diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Arabian' arriving 1847. Gaol Report: Good. No prior convictions. Ship Surgeon's Report: Good
