John Mahony was indicted for burglariously entering the house of John Collins, White-street—The prosecutor with his wife, and a man the name of James White, were returning home from wake the 10th March last., about 4 o’clock in the morning. their proceeding to open the door, two men rushed out, having previously having previously broken the lower sash of window, one escaped through the back door, but the prisoner was pursued and seized by White. The prisoner in his defence said that he was merely passing through White-street when he was taken into custody.— Guilty. Mr. Justice having looked at the Calendar, remarked that the prisoner was old offender, having only recently been liberated from Gaol; and there were no hopes of amendment to expected from him, he should be transported for life. The Court was then adjourned to Monday Cork Constitution, 22 March 1832.
