Patrick Mahony was transported on the Waterloo, departing 21st May 1836 and arriving 6th Sep 1836 with 220 passengers.
1829 - Waterloo's first voyage arrived at Sydney Cove 9 July 1829. 180 Male Convicts. 2 Died on voyage. 7 sent to the hospital on landing. Total mustered; 171. Stephen Addison - Commander Michael Goodsire - Surgeon Superintendent [His wife was a passenger] 1842 - The Waterloo voyage of 1842 was wrecked on 28/8/1842. 189 people drowned, these being 143 convicts, 15 men of the 99th Regiment, together with 17 wives and children, the boatswain Mr. Chiverton, the sailmaker, the carpenter and 11 of the crew. Convicts were then received in Cape Town Prison from the wreck of the Waterloo, 2nd September 1842. They then completed their voyage to VDL per “Cape Packet” which arrived on 23/11/1842.

The convict indentures state that Patrick Mahony was 18 years old. He could neither read nor write; religion Roman Catholic; status single and a native of County Dublin. His occupation was a farm labourer. Patrick was convicted of House breaking on 6 February in Dublin and sentenced to life. He had no prior convictions. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 6 1/2 inches; complexion dark and freckled; hair dark brown and eyes chestnut. Transport number 25. Prisoner number 36-1830. Received ticket of leave in 1846 (number 46/149). Received Conditional pardon in 1851 (number 51/317)
