Freemans Journal, Thursday 4th August 1814 WATERFORD LIST OF TRIALS On Saturday the Hon. Judge Day opened the Commission, in the Crown Court, … Maurice Mahony, John Mahony, Patrick Mahony, Michael Mahony, John Morrissy, Michael Morrissy and Julian Morrissy, indicted for the murder of John Power, at a hurling match at Dunmoon, on the 2d of January last. Acquitted all but Maurice Mahony, who was found Guilty of Manslaughter. Sentence not yet passed. Said Maurice Mahony, Patrick Mahony and Michael Mahony, for administering an unlawful oath on a book, to James Power, brother of the man mentioned above as murdered, on 4th December last, at Lesnerah. All Guilty. Sentence not yet passed, it is a transportable felony. Belfast Newsletter - Tues 6 August 1814 page 4: WATERFORD ASSIZES Patrick, Michael and Maurice Mahony were tried for the murder of John Power - Acquitted of the murder but found guilty of manslaughter. They were afterwards tried on the Whiteboy Act, for unlawfully assembling and appearing in arms, on night of 4th December [i.e.1813] and Michael Mahony for administering unlawful oaths - Guilty against the three prisoners - To be transported for life.
