Appears on: A CALENDAR of the PRISONERS Confined in His Majesty’s three Gaols of Durham, Newcastle, and Northumberland, to take their Trials, February and March, 1830, before the Honourables SIR JAMES ALLAN PARK, and SIR JAMES PARKE, Knights. NEWCASTLE GAOL WILLIAM MANGER, aged 14, and JOHN MACPHERSON, aged 16, charged, on the 28th day of Jan. last, with feloniously stealing 28 yards of rope, value £1. [This is likely to be the earlier felony. Source: Original of the Calendar sold at auction in Melbourne 2022.]

12/4/1834 Newcastle Journal Northumberland, England: NEWCASTLE EASTER SESSIONS WM. MANGER, about 20, was placed at the bar, and pleaded Guilty to stealing a great coat, &c., from a steam-boat, the property of John Falkner. He expressed a wish to quit the country, and in this he was gratified, sentence of seven years' transportation being passed upon him. William Manger was 24 years old on arrival. Native Plae: Northumberland. William was illiterate, single, 5'8¼" tall, light brown hair, grey eyes, two scars inside right elbow, Adam and Eve, tree, serpent, man and woman inside lower right arm, J I M R I M, heart in a heart, W E and mermaid lower left arm, raised mole left side of neck. 1838: TOL Goulburn. 9/4/1841: COF 25/8/1846: COF renewed. 3/11/1849 The People' Advocate and New South Wales Vindicator, Sydney: Shipping Intelligence.
