Charles was transported for 'stealing 2 fowls' the property of William Bowman at Cranbrook, Kent. Charles was the son of Joseph and Clharlotte Shelling and was born at Enfield, Middlesex. Charles was 5'5" tall, light brown hair, hazel eyes, single, could read and write, slightly pockpitted, 2 scars forefinger left hand, CofE. 22/1/1840: Married Sarah Edwards (Tory) at St Mark's church, Pontville, Tasmania. They had 8 or 9 children. Sarah died 2/3/1894 at Hobart.
