Charles was transported for 'stealing 2 fowls' the property of William Bowman at Cranbrook, Kent. Charles was the son of Joseph and Clharlotte Shelling and was born at Enfield, Middlesex. Charles was 5'5" tall, light brown hair, hazel eyes, single, could read and write, slightly pockpitted, 2 scars forefinger left hand, CofE. 22/1/1840: Married Sarah Edwards (Tory) at St Mark's church, Pontville, Tasmania. They had 8 or 9 children. Sarah died 2/3/1894 at Hobart.




Was convicted of two counts of larceny 1 month Imprisonment+ 7 yrs Tranportation His older brother Jesse was found not guilty on a charge of Obstruction on the same day
