Convict Notes
Maria married Edward Lord following her pardon in 1808, having already borne him 3 children in her capacity of housekeeper. Lord became one of the richest landowners in Tasmania (through some occasionally questionable transactions) and Maria proved to be a successful manager and entrepreneur. They later had 5 more children but their marriage eventually faded and Maria continued her own business interests.
