(Turner) produced perhaps 2children: 1.John (Turner) was tried with his brother Mark & 2others with poaching pheasants in Norford near Swaffham Norfolk & possible house breaking at Surrey Quarter Sessions, sentenced to xxxyears & held at Swaffham Bridewell gaol. ..John (Turner) does not have an entry on this Website as yet; & may indeed not have come to Australia. .. Noted however, a John (Turner) arrived in NSW on 9 7 1791 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet ship WILLIAM AND ANN. He was Free by Servitude by 1798 & had a relationship with Rebecca (Campbell) & produced 1child. .. 2.Mark (Turner) was born about 1759. He was tried for stealing a bleach near Norwich Norfolk before 1790, escaped & was apprehended at Dover; he was issued a pardon. He was later tried with his brother John & 2others with poaching pheasants in Norford near Swaffham Norfolk & possible house breaking at Surrey Quarter Sessions, sentenced to 7years, held at Swaffham Bridewell gaol & arrived in NSW as a convict on 26 6 1790 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet ship SCARBOROUGH. He married Caroline/yn (Laycock her third (3of6) relationship) in 1792 (not shown in Smees records). He was Free by Servitude by 1796. He is recorded in 1828 as sawyer with his wife at Newcastle. He died in 1830 age34 & was buried at St Johns CofE Parramatta. 31/10/1787 Bury and Norwich Post Suffolk, England: Thursday last four men, of a very suspicious appearance, were apprehended at a public-house at Swaffham, and on a strict examination it appeared, that they went from this city on purpose to shoot pheasants, and commit other depredations on the public. Seven brace and a half of pheasants were found on them, which they acknowledged to have shot in the night time on the estate of Brigg Fountaine, Esq. at Narford. They had likewise two guns, an inch and half center bit, tinder-box, steel, tinder, matches and candle, and indeed were completely equipped for house breaking, or any other operation in that way. Their names are as follow: Mark Turner, who sometime since was sentenced to be transported for 7 years, for robbing a bleach near Norwich, but broke out of the city gaol, and was apprehended afterwards at Dover, and lately received his Majesty's pardon. John Turner, his brother, Clare Munford of Wymondham, and Dancer Drake of Aylsham. They are now all safely lodged in Swaffham Bridewell. They confessed that they generally sold the pheasants at 7s. a brace in this city, and once, Turner said, he sold them at 14s. a brace. Mark Turner was listed as being on the 'Scarborough'.

The five children were: George 1791, Mark 1793, William 1794, Eleanor 1796 and Thomas 1799. Caroline was left a widow with the young children when Mark died in 1802. She is mentioned in the 1806 muster... [Ref A2706 page 66] Caroline Laycock, Prince of Wales in the employ of William shepherd. [Ref C0766 p[age 167] Caroline Laycock, Prince of Wales 5 children. In the 1814 muster [Ref 3056] Caroline Laycock, Prince of Wales wife to Henry Heatley is recorded. In the 1828 Census there is no mentio of Caroline located although Henry Heatley is there [Ref H1243] with a son Henry aged 9 so this could be a further child to Caroline. IN addition one of Mark Turners Sons is also noted.. page 374... [Ref T1296] Turner, William, 35, BC, Farmer at Pitt Town. ## with his wife and 3 children named ... Eleanor 12, Mark 10 and Robert 7. ### same names exactly as his siblings names!
