Patrick Marr was convicted at Warwick, Birmingham 20 Oct 1840 for stealing a silk handkerchief. 10yr sentence. Sent to Parkhurst Boys Prison on Isle of Wight. Had been there 2 1/2 yrs before being transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Mandarin' 1843. 1843: Aged 16yrs; tailor; single; Protestant; can read & write. Native place - Birmingham 1 yr Probation - at Jericho, Tasmania. Assignments in Colony. 1846: Tried Hobart Supreme Court for stabling Thomas Brown, with intent. Not Guilty. Several notes of misconduct. Conditional Pardon 12 Oct 1847. Discharged from Conditional Pardon 31 Oct 1847, at Jerusalem.
