Correction to above - wrong year of conviction. --------------------------------------------------- Hulk Reports at Portsmouth. HO-9-8-1 Received 4 (convicts) from Worcester, 9 Jun 1802. Samuel Marsh, age 20, Burglary. Tried at Worcester, 5 Mar 1796, Sentence: NSW Life - Coromandel. --------------------------------------------------- WORCESTER ASSIZES. The business of this assize commenced on Monday, before the Hon. Mr. Baron Thompson and Mr. Justice Lawrence. ... Samuel Marsh, for breaking the shop window of Mr. Jones, linendraper, of Worcester and stealing a piece of Irish cloth, … were capitally convicted and received sentence of death, but were all reprieved before the Judges left that place. Oxford Journal, 2 April 1796. --------------------------------------------------- Samuel would have been 14 when he committed the offencs and spent six years imprisoned in Worcester Gaol, before being moved to the Hulk.
