Trial 22 Jan 1846 at Mullingar, Co Westmeath IRE Desc: aged 21 from Co Westmeath IRE, single, 5'9.25" tall, can read but not write, RC Convict Labour Contracts: 28 Sep 1850 (3 months) - Samuel Withers, Harrington St 19 Dec 1850 (12 months) - James Lucas, Passage Point Huon River 8 Mar 1851 (12 months) - John Waldie, Bruny Island TOL 11 Apr 1853 Certificate of Freedom 8 Apr 1854 CP 10 Mar 1855 Permission to marry 28 Oct 1854 approved - Bridget Meehan. No record of marriage Permission to marry 26 Feb 1855 - Mary Ann Hughes (real name Mary Ann Finnigan, free, came to VDL under the indenture system not as a convict. Hughes is mothers' maiden name, no information as to why she's going under that surname). They married 26 Mar 1855 at St Joseph Catholic Church, Hobart. They went on to have at least 14 children together, settling on Bruny Island Died 13 Dec 1877 of pneumonia at the Hobart General Hospital
