Maiden name: Grace Martin - married John Nicol in Scotland. Records found under both Nicol and Martin. National Records of Scotland: Precognition against Grace Nicol for the crime of theft, habit and repute and previous conviction, 1838. Accused Grace Nicol, wife of John Nicol ms Martin, age 30 pottery worker. Address New Wynd Glasgow. Origin Anderston. 1843: Married Benjamin Porter ((Duke of Portland 1807) at St Johns Parramatta - 2 children on NSW BDM, John Y Porter born 1845 and Mary Porter born 1847. 1844: TOL Parramatta 21/11/1845: COF 1854: Grace died aged 45, NSW. Benjamin Porter died at the Liverpool Benevolent Establishment in 1860 aged 79.
