Family connections for John (Martin) are: This contribution replaces earlier contribution made in 2021. MARTIN John (Martin) was born about 1770. He was tried for theft at Old Bailey, sentenced to 7years, probably held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 26 6 1790 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet ship NEPTUNE; a voyage noted for extreme brutality of prisoners with a high death rate. He was free by Servitude by 1805 when he had a relationship with Mary (Allen her sixth relationship). He died on 28 4 1812 age42 at Windsor & was buried at St Matthews CofE Windsor. [Some details taken from this Website & noted another John (Martin) in this Fleet also has an entry on this Website-perhaps he is the same person? ++ Noted a John (Martin) married Ann (Walker on 11 12 1796 at st Johns CofE Parramatta. [an Ann (Walker) was convicted at Middlesex Gaol Delivery, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 30 4 1796 after a voyage of 6months on INDIDPENSABLE.] [Some details taken from this Website] ++ Mary (Allen/Allain) was born about 1759/65 & became a servant. She was tried for highway robbery, on 14 9 1786, stealing a watch from Hugh (Harding) at Old Bailey on 25 10 1786, sentenced to 7years, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 22 1 1788 after a voyage of 12months on First Fleet ship LADY PENRHYN. She had a first relationship (1of6) with Frederick (Meredith his first relationship (1of4)). She, as Mary (Allen/Allain), arrived on Norfolk Island on 13 3 1790. She married secondly ??? (Connors) recorded as at St Davids CofE church (Hobart?). She, as Mary (Allen/Allain), married thirdly (3of6) James (Proctor) on 5 11 1791 in group ceremony on Norfolk Island. She, as Mary (Allen/Proctor/Port,) started a fourth (4of6) relationship at age51 with William (Atkins his second relationship) before 1794. She owned 50acres when she left Norfolk Island as part of the first evacuation (for which volunteers apparantly had been called with appropriate compensation offerred & for which he may have tried to decline as some successful farmers were asked to stay) with William (Atkins) & 3children on 15 5 1808 on ESTRAMINA to Derwent Tasmania, arriving on 5 6 1808. She married William (Atkins his second) emancipist (during her relationship with John (Martin)) on 16 7 1810 at St Davids CofE Hobart & produced 4children. She is recorded in 1814 as a widow with 4children at Windsor (there is a Windsor in Tasmania). She is recorded as off stores at Hobart Town on 2 10 1818. She had a fifth relationship (5of6) with Edward (Pailes). She was Free by Servitude by 1798. She is recorded as sentence expired on stores on Norfolk Island in February 1805. She is recorded in 1828 as a widow with son Thomas (Martin). She lived her last years with daughter Ann (Richards perhaps nee (Pailes)) at Riverside Inn Goulbourn until she died on 9 6 1843 age98 mother of perhaps 11children & was buried at St Saviours Anglican family plot Goulbourn. Mary (Allen) & John (Martin) produced 4children: 1.Thomas (Martin) was born on 2 4 1805 at Hawkesbury & baptised on 11 8 1805 in group ceremony at St Johns CofE Parramatta. His mother is recorded in 1828 as a widow living with him. 2.Mary (Martin) was born on 14 6 1806. She died on 15 6 1806 age1d & was buried at St Johns CofE Parramatta. 3.Edward (Martin) was born in 1807. He died on 25 5 1812 age4 at Windsor & was buried at St Matthews CofE Windsor. 4.Sarah Susannah (Martin) was born on 11 5 1812 at Windsor & baptised on 31 5 1815 age3 at St Matthews CofE Windsor.
