Family connections for Mary (Martin) are: This replaces my Contribution of June 2025 MARTIN Mary (Martin) arrived in NSW as a convict on 14 2 1792 after a voyage of 8months on PITT; much fever & attempts to escape from the ship resulted in deaths of convicts-of the 450convicts on board only 29 were alive at muster in May 1792 (or perhaps only this many could be mustered). She married firstly (1of3) Thomas (Smith) on 4 3 1792 at St Johns CofE Parramatta.>>> [Noted -Smees records show a Thomas (Smith) had 2children with another Mary (Martin NEPTUNE 1790), who also has an entry on this Website-the children being adopted by her new husband James (Wilboe SALAMANDER 1791)] LATER FOUNDFound a Thomas (Smith Provost Marshall former marine from First Fleet 1788) died on 20 12 1804 & was buried at St Phillips CofE Sydney. & [Noted a Thomas (Smith) labourer is recorded as dying on 19 3 1830 age45 at Princess St Sydney from exhaustion caused by excessive drinking of ardent spirits & buried at St James CofE Sydney] .. >>>Mary (Smith) had a second (2of3) relationship with Thomas (Masters) & produced a child.>>> [Mary (Martin) & Thomas (Masters) produced a child:] [1.Elizabeth (Masters) was born on 30 10 1797 & baptised on 21 1 1798 at St Johns CofE Parramatta.] .. >>>Mary (Smith) had a third relationship with Richard (Evans his second (2of3) relationship). She produced 2known children in her lifetime.>>> Richard (Evans) enlisted in NSW Corps in UK on 11 3 1701 as a Corporal & arrived in NSW as a soldier on 9 7 1791 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet ship ACTIVE & on Norfolk Island on 11 11 1791; he was illiterate. He became a Sergeant in 1793. In 1794 he was granted 25acres at Bulanaming. He married firstly (1of3) Mary (Morrison) on 4 6 1796 at St Phillips CofE Sydney.>>> [Mary (Morrison) does not have an entry on this Website as yet; she may not have been a concvict.] [Noted a Mary (Evans INDISPENSIBLE 1796) emancipist died on 15 2 1811 age58 & was buried at St Phillips CofE Sydney.] [Noted a Mary (???/Morrison) married Charles (Brown) on 24 8 1813 at St Phillips CofE Sydney] >>>Richard (Evans) was detached to (Townson)s company in 1798 until 1800 when he was detached to (Paterson)s company.>>> Mary (Martin/Smith) & Richard (Evans) produced 1child: 1.Richard (Evans) was born on 23 6 1799 & baptised on 7 7 1799 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. .. >>>Richard (Evans) recieved a grant of 150acres at Sawyers/Boston Reaches (Cambridge/Cumberland Reaches) Mulgrave Place Hawkesbury, near the (Arundell)s, in 1803 & was discharged on 25 3 1803. He had a third relationship with Elizabeth (Jackson her second relationship). He was killed, probably by his farm aboriginals, at 'China Farm' near Portland Head on 31 12 1812 father of 3children. Elizabeth (Jackson) was born about 1771. She was convicted of stealing clothes, in May 1794, of James (Gallagher) at Dublin city Ireland on 14 6 1794, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 1 12 1796 after a voyage of 6months on MARQUIS CORNWALLIS; maybe sent firstly to Female Factory. She was probably sent to Norfolk Island on SUPPLY on 23 3 1796. She had a first relationship with John (Arndell) & produced 4children. She was Free by Servitude by 1806. In 1828 she lived with son George. She died on 16 11 1837 age66/78 mother of 6children at Windsor Poor House Benevolent Society & was buried at St Matthews Anglican church Windsor. [Some details taken from this Website] [John (Arndell) was born in 1772 in London. He became a medical trainee before arriving in NSW as a settler, perhaps to follow his father, on 11 2 1796 after a voyage of 6months on MARQUIS CORNWALLIS; then to Norfolk Island as assistant surgeon on 23 3 1796 on SUPPLY.
