in about 1805/6 Owen commenced a relationship with Catherine Osborne (Convict, Glatton, 1803). They had 2 children Mary, 1806 and Patrick 1808.

Sarah Warport (Convict, Kitty, 1792) was assigned as a servant to Owen and they had a de facto relationship which lasted to about 1803/4. Sarah and Owen had 4 children: Sarah 1795, Rosetta 1796, Thomas 1799 and Owen 1801.

It is difficult to ascertain Owen's date of birth. At trial he stated aged 18 in 1790, so an estimated DOB C1772-1773. However later evidence seems to support a much earlier date. When he died, the family credited his age as 65 so an estimated DOB could be as early as 1756.
