Mary Cottar was transported on the Providence, departing 8th Dec 1825 and arriving 16th May 1826 with 100 passengers.
The ship named 'Providence' was built in Calcutta, India in 1808. 649 tons. The 1811 voyage brought many convicts from Ireland to Australia. 73rd Regiment. Also several free settlers. 5-6 deaths on voyage. The ship was lastly scuttled at St. Martin's, Isle of Scilly in 1833.

1825 - Old Bailey On-Line Born; 1804 - London Tried; 30 June 1825 - Tried at Old Bailey, London (Middlesex Gaol delivery). Accused of grand larceny (stealing, on the 25th of June, six yards of lace, value 10 s.). Found guilty. Sentenced to transportation. {With Bridget Bergin and Margaret Burke] 1826 - Source; CON40-1-1 Image 269. Indent No; 78. Trial; 30 June 1825. Transported for Larceny [Stealing lace form a Draper Shop] Status; I have not seen my husband for 2 years. I married a man of the name of Cottar. 1837 - 29 Sep. Certificate of Freedom. 29 Sept 1837 1837 - 18 Oct. Tried at Hobart Town in the name of Mary Dillow. Transported for feloniously receiving a 20 pound note the property of Jno. Arthur. Knowing it to be stolen. Sent to the Female Factory at Launceston for 2 years and kept on the wash tub until her conduct warrants her being removed from that occupation and never to be assigned to any Town afterwards 1842 - DIED; on the 19 July 1842.
