Built 1829 at Chepstow. 365 tons. Female prisoners were transported to New South Wales on the 'Margaret' in 1837, 1839 and 1840. The 'Margaret' was the last convict ship to transport female prisoners to New South Wales. Another voyage to Van Diemen's Land in 1843. Mary had a daughter who on official documents was known as Bridget Fitzgerald. On one document the father was named as Edward Fitzgerald. On her son John’s death certificate her maiden name morphs to Bridget Flood. Anyone know why

The Convict Indentures state that Mary Donovan was 27 years old. She could neither read or write; religion Roman Catholic; status single with 1 daughter and a native of County Limerick. She was a child's maid. Mary was convicted of stealing money in Tipperary on 27 December 1837es 1838 and sentenced to 7 years. She had no prior convictions. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 3 1/2 inches; complexion fair ruddy and freckled; hair light brown and eyes light brown. Transport number 105. Prisoner number 103-39.
