On Friday the following female convicts left York Castle, order to delivered on board the transport-ship Mary Ann, bound New South Wales, lying below Woolwich, up the River Thames —Sarah Fenton and Mary Robinson to be transported for life; Ruth Kaye for 14 years; Sarah Hellewell and Elisabeth Ellerbeck, for 7 years each.—Jane Firth and Hannah Carr still remain in the Castle. ** TWO MARY ROBINSONS ON THE MARY ANNE ** The other Mary Robinson was tried at Newcastle. **Mary Robinson arrived in "VDL" - born C1800 it is not possible that she married and had a child in 1868 in NSW** 17/3/1821 Yorkshire Gazette Yorkshire, England: MARY ROBINSON, (aged 20.) and WM. RAMSDEN, (aged 20,) were charged with a highway robbery—the prosecutor, Isaac Sugden, who resides at Bradford, is a poor labouring man, and well known between Leeds and Bradford by the name of Old Waggoner......Ramsden and Robinson began to pull him about, they took him into a field, where the man knocked him into a ditch, and after jumping upon him and beating him very severely, robbed him of his money and his watch.....The Jury acquitted Ramsden, but returned a verdict of Guilty against Mary Robinson. **Although acquitted, William Ramsden was again tried for Larceny, guilty, transported for 7 years and arrived per 'Malabar 1821'. There appears to have been some mixups with dates on mary's conduct record. 3/6/1825 Hobart Town Gazette: Mary Robinson 4ft. 10in. brown hair, dark grey eyes, 24 years of age, a servant, tried at York March 1820, sentence life, arrived in this Colony per Mary Ann 1822, native place Tweedmouth, absconded, from the service of Mr, Blundell, May 31, 1825.—£2 Reward. A CP is recorded on 28/12/1825 - yet she is still listed on musters 1832-1835 Musters: TOL ?? 4/8/1831: TOL - Hobart Town Courier. There was also the following - do not know which Mary Robinson it was, except that, the other Mary Robinson was listed as a Lunatic C1834. 31/10/1832: Permission to marry George Warner (Commodore Hayes 1823) - Married 1833. 22/1/1833: Mary Robinson married George Warner by banns, at Hobart.
