We have further to announce the arrival on Sunday morning, the 29th instant, of the ship Almorah, with 180 male prisoners, all in excellent health, consequent upon their good treatment upon the passage; she lost not a man. — This vessel sailed from the Downs the 28th of April, arrived at Rio de Janeiro the 15th of June, and sailed on the 23rd; Sydney Gazette, 30 Aug 1817. Almorah 2. Yesterday arrived from Ireland,- the ship Almorah; Captain Winter. She sailed from the Cove of Cork the 22d of August last, and brings 160 male prisoners, all in good health. Surgeon Superintendent, Dr. Alexander, R. N. The guard consists of a party of 30 men belonging to the 1st Regiment of Foot (Royals), under orders of Ensign Bruce. Sydney Gazette, 23 Dec 1820. Almorah 3. On Friday last, arrrived from Ireland, with 108 female prisoners, the ship Almorah, Captain Boyd. She sailed from Cork the 6th of April; reached no where: and, independent of the female prisoners, brings 15 free women, and 50 children. One prisoner, and one child, died on the passage. Absconded. 2. Judith Masterson, Almorah, 40, Athlone, 5 feet 7 inch, grey eyes, brown to red hair, pale complexion, Parramatta Factory. Sydney Gazette, 9 Dec 1824. -------------------------------------------------- Judith Masterson, prisoner of the crown, found drunk in her master's kitchen, with 4 bottles emptied of their contents of wine; ordered to the 2d class of prisoners at the Factory. Sydney Gazette, 5 Jan 1826. -------------------------------------------------- THE following Female Convicts have received Tickets of Leave, in Pursuance of the Government Order of 17th March last, at the recommendation of the Committee of Management of the Female Factory :- County of Cumberland. Daughter Margaret Masterson arrived per Palambam (1831). Brush maker. Lives with Rev. Father Henry Fulton. -------------------------------------------------- ADM 101/2/2 1824 Medical and surgical journal of the Almorah convict ship, for 17 March to 26 August 1824 by Morgan Price, Surgeon and Superintendent, during which time the said ship conveyed female convicts from Cork to Port Jackson. Folio 21: 18 June 1824, 'Masterson continues much the same' [not mentioned previously]. Folio 32: Judith Masterson; disease or hurt, arterial haemorrhage from the mouth. Put on sick list, 6 August 1824. No date of discharge or cure, last note reads 'Much the same', dated 9 August [folio 33]. Had been under alterative medicine for some time past for venereal nodes and syphilis. Folio 32: 7 August 1824, Masterson, haemorrhage not so great as yesterday. Folio 33: 9 August 1824, Masterson much the same.
