Abraham MATTHEWS was convicted at Somerset 8 July 1839 for stealing a watch. 10yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Mandarin' arriving 30 June 1840. Aged 20yrs; farm labourer; 5'3 3/4"; single. Native place - Somerset, England. Assignments in Colony. Numerous notes of misconduct. Ticket of Leave granted 13 Mar 1849.
