DOB, 1803, Native of Louth Co. ploughman. -------------------------------------------------- Moreton Bay records Hugh Matthews, per Ann & Amelia, Tried at Louth, Mar. 1824, 7 years, Ploughman. Colonial conviction: Gen. Sess. Argyle, 6 Mar 1826, Assault, 3 years in addition to his original sentence. Died, 29 Nov 1826. Description: Hugh Matthews, native of Louth Co., age 25, 5 ft 7 ¾ , Sallow comp, brown hair, grey eyes. -------------------------------------------------- COUNTY OF ARGYLE. On Monday, March 6, Hugh Matthews Evan Stewart, was brought before David Reid and Robert Futter, Esquires, charged with violently assaulting and threatening the life of his master, Charles Throsby, jun. Esq. at Throsby Park, in February last. The prisoner pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to be transferred to any penal settlement his Excellency the Governor should think proper to direct, for the remainder of his unexpired term of 7 years, and also to serve three years after the said sentence has expired.
