William Mawson was the son of John Mawson Jnr and Margaret Craven. William was 24 years old on arrival, on his conduct record, but according to his birth date, was about 21, 5’3 ¾” tall, fresh complexion, light grey eyes, reddish brown hair, stout made. He was a widower with 1 child – his wife had died whilst he was in prison. 1832: Assigned to Thomas Horne Esq. 1833: Public Works 1835: Post messenger 24/12/1840: TOL 20/8?/1843: CP 29/9/1846: CP extended to Australian Colonies. 24/11/1835: Permission to marry Letitia Thorogood (arrived as a free settler with her 4 siblings and mother per "Frances Charlotte" at Hobart Town to be re-united with father.) Also applied on 30/4/1836 and 8/12/1837. 29/3/1837: Married at St.Luke's Church, Bothwell, Tasmania. They had 3 children. 10/1/1874: William died at Wensleydale, Victoria, aged 64. 26/8/1894: Letitia died at Germantown

After looking through my Family tree, I have found that he was a distant relative of mine on my Great grandmothers side.
