The Arabian arrived at Hobart Town, February 25 1847.

Susan McArdle, age 18, nursemaid, tried at Down, 12 Jan 1846, 7 years. Native place, Co. Armagh, single, catholic, can neither read nor write. Relations: father, Hugh; mother, Margaret; brothers, ?, Michl, John, James, Terry; sister, Margaret. 2 years on the Town. Offence: Stealing clothes, pr. Mr Amos at Co. Down. For potatoes, 1 month.

Susan was listed as being 18 years old on arrival, she was 4'10¾" tall, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, single. Family sites list her birth date as 1821. Assigned to Mr. Walton, Huon River on arrival. 2/10/1848: Permission to marry Joshua Hodges (free) (Atlas 1833) - approved - no marrige listed. 16/10/1849: Permission to marry James Brough (Equestrian 1845) 5/11/1849: Married James Brough, a potter, at St George's, Hobart - 2 children Mary Ann Brough 28/10/1851-1943 and James Henry Brough born C1856 and died in 1921. 11/5/1852: TOL 5/12/1853: COF James Brough died 9/1/1875 in Happy Valley, Ballarat, Victoria. 25/12/1876: Susan married Thomas Leech in Victoria.
