Colonial Secretary's Office, Sydney, 1st June, 1835. ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY POUNDS REWARD. WHEREAS, it has been represented to the Government, that the undermentioned Nine men, consisting of four private Soldiers of the 4th (or King's Own) Regiment, one free Overseer, and four Convicts attached to No. 2 Stockade, on Cox's River, availed themselves of a favorable opportunity by the absence of some of the Guard on duty elsewhere, to escape from the Stockade on the 25th ultimo, and it is supposed they will make for Twofold Bay, for the purpose of seizing a Whale Boat. Notice is hereby given, that a Reward of Twenty Pounds will be paid to any free person for the apprehension of each of the Runaways, and should the person or persons apprehending either of the men, be a prisoner of the Crown, he shall be recommended to His Majesty's Government, for a Conditional Pardon. Name, William Shaw ; Age, 26 years ; Height, 5 feet, 6 1/2 inches ; Complexion, sallow ; Hair, brown ; Eyes, brown ; General remarks, none, The dress of the above mentioned soldiers is not correctly known, but they have part of their regimental accoutrements and regimental necessaries with them.
