Family connections for Felix (Mccanna) are: McCANNA Felix (McCanna/McKenna/McCanea/McCann) was born about 1774/1783 & became a private with 5Dragoon Guards Regiment. He was tried for desertion at Court Martial at Fermoy Cork co. Ireland on 29 2 1808, sentenced to 7years, held for a time on hulk LAUREL at Portsmouth Hampshire & arrived in NSW as a convict on 16 10 1810 after a voyage of 5.5months on INDIAN. He was sent to Newcastle on 10 12 1810 on HMS LADY NELSON, where instructions had been issued that he receive no harsh punishment. He was an emancipist age45 in 1819 (Certificate of Freedom no.10/1651) when he married [Elizabeth (Walpole her third marriage) on 2 8 1819 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. In 1821 he was working on farms at Field of Mars. He was living in the county of Cumberland when he declared his Certificate of Freedom lost in 1824 & was issued Certificate of Freedom no.36/2256 on 17 6 1824. Noted a Felix (McCann) died on 1 5 1830 (listed as perhaps executed) at Maitland & was buried at St Marys RC Sydney. [Some details taken from this Website] Elizabeth (Walpole) was born about 1778. She was tried at Westmeath Ireland, sentenced to Life & arrived in NSW as a convict on 11 2 1796 after a voyage of 6months on MARQUIS CORNWALLIS. She was issued her Absolute Pardon by 1811. She married secondly (2of3) Thomas (Herbert) on 27 3 1815 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. County of Cumberland. Felix McCanna maketh oath and saith that he was tried at Fermoy (County of Cork) in the year 1808, sentenced to seven years transportation, arrived in the Colony in 1810, which sentence is now expired. That about three years ago while at work in the fields in the district of Evan, he lost his certificate from his hat and that he hath not made any improper use of the same all which is truth. To Commandant of Newcastle. By the Lady Nelson there are sent down to you for Government work 7 prisoners (names in the margin) lately arrived here from England in the Indian Convict Ship, and it is His Excellency the Governors desire that these men may receive no harsh treatment – Charles McMahon who absconded from Newcastle some time ago is now returned by the Lady Nelson to Government work. Names in margin: 1 Felix McKenna. 2 Thos. Copian. 3. Carman Reajo. 4. Edmd. Castello. 5 Felix Peritcho 6. Benj. Grimshaw 7. Joseph Neille.
