Statement of John Green, Clerk of Emu Plains Establishment, 2 June 1827, relating to female convicts sent to the government Agricultural Establishment at Emu Plains in 1822-23, Colonial Office Records, CO 210/182, p. 327 http://nla.gov.au/nla.obj-987060654: Mary McCue per Jno Bull Received May 1st 1822, Discharged 11th December 1822, an old woman who frequently requested of the Superintendent to be removed to the Factory as she was unable to perform field labour on the ration she received, and that she could not earn more, as the young women did, by prostitution, and which she was obliged to witness in the hut where she lived, and frequently laying on the same sheet of bark, and that if he the Supt wanted women for that purpose he must get young ones, as she neither would or should be made a whore of by him, with all his authority, and that she would run away, if she was not returned, yet she was not returned until sometime after she had refused to do any work.
