Court-martialled at Glasgow 3 November 1835 and sentenced to 7 years transportation for desertion. 131625 McDonald John - Strathfieldsaye 1836. 1837 2 August Patrick Plains GG. Soldier age 24 from Argyleshire. 5ft 8 in, fair ruddy complexion, brown hair, grey eyes. horizontal scar over right eyebrow, nose inclining to the right side, HMDJMD man with pipe and flag in hand JAMD anchor, half moon, and seven stars. mermaid and fish, quart pot and two glasses, two pipes and fish lower right arm, sun, rose, and thistle, man and 2 women, love MxM cross swords JRMDJGMD and 2 darts, JT and heart lower left arm. Absconded from Helenus Scott 17th July.
