John Trevor on 19th November, 2015 wrote: Convicted of rape at Toodyay 4 Jan. 1861: http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/69136712 Hanged 15 January 1861 at Perth Gaol: http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/69136025 Unfortunately the ship “Phoebe Dunbar” which this ‘Joseph McDonald’ arrived on, was not listed at the time of John Trevor’s contribution. The ship is now listed and so I have transposed John’s contribution here. Joseph was 20 years old on arrival in WA and was transported for ‘Sheep Stealing’. He was convict No. 2466. Joseph was single, literate, 5’9” tall, light brown hair, blue eyes, sallow complexion, stout build, I on left hand and a scar on centre of forehead. 18/7/1854: TOL Known areas: Toodyay. 9/1/1861 The Enquirer and Commercial News, Perth: Joseph McDonald, charged with rape at Toodyay was found guilty, and sentenced to death. The prisoner was undefended.
