Perth Jury Court. 6th. Margaret Macdonald, residing in Dundee, was indicted for using and uttering forged notes She pled Not Guilty. Mr Kinloch objected that the copy of the indictment served on the panel contained the words Dunion Bank, instead of Dundee Union Bank, and that therefore it was not a true copy of her indictment, and that the trial must be abandoned. Lord Meadowbank sustained the objection so far as to expunge that sentence from her indictment, but ordered the trial to proceed on which her counsel advised her to plead  Guilty, but which she, seemingly with much reluctance, ultimately complied with. The public prosecutor having restricted the libel to arbitrary punishment, the Jury returned a verdict of Guilty, in terms of her own confession. She was sentenced to 7 years transportation. Fife Herald, 28 April 1825. Landed at VDL.
