Bernard McGowan was 17 years old when convicted along with William McMaster (not listed as a convict) for the crime of theft at Bishopbridge, Cadder, Lanark. Bernard’s address was given as Hill Street, Glasgow and his occupation listed as a 'hawker' on the NAS records. Bernard was illiterate, catholic and single – occupation given as a ‘painter’. 30/10/1852: married Jane BAKER, at Maitland. born c.1832, Maitland & died 28.11.1910, Mudgee, they had 11 children. 19/4/1837: TOL 6/4/1844: COF, Maitland. 11/11/1876: Bernard died and was buried at Mudgee as was his wife. Occupation at time of death was a Lime Burner.
