HO 17/14/29 1832 Feb 1 collective petition (19 people including, tradesmen, provost and magistrates of Dumfries) on behalf of Nancy McGurk, convicted at Dumfries Circuit Court for theft. There is a covering letter from William Reid (Catholic clergyman in Dumfries). Grounds for clemency: came from a good family, she is pregnant, and that she has resided in Dumfries for 25 years. Initial sentence: 14 years transportation. Gaoler's report: convicted once before. Annotated: 'Nil'. AY 3. [Scot].
