Hugh McHardie was 24 years old when convicted of the crime of rape, or assault with the intent to ravish Helen Aitken, daughter of Archibald Aitken, labourer, Great Hamilton Street, Glasgow. Hugh lived at Tontine Close, Trongate, Glasgow, with Daniel McAulay, publican. 12/4/1837: Convict Death Register: Died aged 26, Sydney.
