The Cornwall Chronicle Wed 10 Apr 1861. Page 4 TRIAL OF GEORGE WILLIAM HAMILTON, FOR THE MURDER OF HIS WIFE TRIAL OF GEORGE WILLIAM HAMILTON, For the MURDER OF HIS WIFE ELIZABETH HAMILTON. (By Electric Talegraph.) Hobart Town, Tuesday, April 9th. SUPREME COURT Before His Honor the Chief Justice, Sir Valentino Fleming, Km. George William Hamilton, was placed in the dock and charged with the wilful murder of his wife Elizabeth Hamilton, on the 6th March, The prisoner who was so fearfully agitated that he had to be supported to prevent him from falling, in a faint voice pleaded guilty, and when the plea was recorded, he was removed, sentence being deferred.
