Irish Convict Database, by Peter Mayberry. Catherine McKieve, alias Finnigan, age 30, Per Palambam 1831, Tried 1830 at Cavan, 7 years, for Shop lifting. DOB, 1801, Native place, Fermanagh. Widow, 2 children, Catholic, Trade, Dairy maid, house maid, sempstress. Remarks: Colonial sentence, Moreton Bay. Moreton Bay Convict Register. Catherine McKieve, convicted in this Colony in the name of Finnigan, per Palambam, Tried at Cavan, Apr 1830, for Shoplifting, 7 years. Trade, Sempstress. Colonial conviction: Sup. Ct, Sydney, 23 Feb 1833, Receiving, 7 years. Supreme Court.- Saturday. James Burdett, William Bolton, and John Hennessey, convicted of a robbery in a dwelling house above the value of £5. Judgment of death was recorded against each of them. Judge Dowling remarked in passing sentence, that had they been convicted of the burglary, sentence of death would have been passed upon them, and he should have recommended His Excellency to have had it carried into effect. Owen Finnigan and Catherine Finnigan, for receiving part of the property above stolen, were, in consideration of their age, and the testimonials of character that had been put in, only sentenced to be each transported for seven years.
